Our Key Guest Omar Hegazy

Fear is the biggest disability of all and will paralyze you more than being in a wheelchair. Tomorrow we are honored to host Omar Hegazy in Manarat El Mostaqbal campus. Omar is the first Egyptian to swim from Jordan to Egypt with an amputated leg. He is the first Egyptian to cross the 20 kilometers from Jordan’s al-Aqaba to Egypt’s Taba, challenging his own limits after having lost his leg in a tragic accident. Hegazy dedicated his swim race to the Egyptian football national team playing in the World Cup 2018. Since this accident, Omar has been keen to continue all his favorite sports — swimming, diving and even mountain climbing — to “prove to the entire world that people can always choose to be greater than they ever thought they can be.” For Hegazy to have accomplished this under his circumstances, is phenomenal. The human spirit is full of perseverance and courage that no disability can steal away.
